Betfair is a brand that well and truly revolutionised the gambling industry and the way we bet, by creating an exchange style platform, where gamblers could bet against each other, or even bet against and for an outcome at the same time, thus trading for profit. Moving forward from the success of the betting exchange, in 2013, they decided to create a new sports book product, to once again take the gaming space by storm!

If a sports book was just a year old, ordinarily you’d consider it to be in its infancy, however with Betfair, this is far from the case. The site itself is extremely easy on the eye, with a very nice blue colour scheme, and a simple tabular navigation bar.

Upon landing on the homepage, you’ll immediately be greeted with all the sport highlight games, for the top five major sports, at time of writing; they are football, tennis, cricket and snooker. On the midsection on both the left and right hand sides, there are excellent visual sports icons, which when clicked will take you to the relevant sport market. So if the image was a golf ball, when clicked, it takes you to the golf market pages.

There’s also a horizontal menu too, where you can access markets for twenty four sports, ranging from football and horse racing, through to politics and the winter Olympics. There are quick links to the major sports, for convenience, such as football, racing, greyhounds and tennis. In play betting areas can be accessed with ease too, via either the horizontal menu or the main homepage.

Cash out early

When you bet with Betfair, whenever you see an orange symbol next to the market, this means the bet is eligible for early cash out. Now, we particularly love this feature, and wrote a dedicated cash our guide, however if you’re not familiar, basically it means that when the event is in play, you can cash out at any time. From the minute the event goes in play, you are presented with a yellow button, and a figure, which shows either, your potential profit, or your unfortunate loss amount, were you to cash out there and then. If you had placed a bet on Manchester United vs Manchester City, for United to win, if the game were ten minutes in, and 1-0 to United, chances are you can cash out, for a profit. Though, the profit probably won’t be as high as the potential full time pay-out.

This isn’t just limited to singles either, you can also cash out on some multiples too, which makes it even better. It’s quite common for a punter to place a bet on a multiple, for just one team to let them down. The Low Risk Winner team placed a bet on a fourfold accumulator not so long ago, with a possible pay out of £732. However the final game was Arsenal vs Bayern Munich, with the fourth team being Bayern Munich. We were offered cash out of £251, so we took it, which was just as well, as they lost 4-0.

It’s a great feature, and really separates the men from the boys, and shows who can hold their nerve, and who would rather protect their interests.

Placing a bet

The act of placing your first bet is exceptionally straight forward, quite simply you just find the market and event you want, click the mouse on the odds for the outcome you wish to back. Immediately on the right hand side, a bet slip will appear, remember to look out for the orange cash out symbol too! Once the bet slip is visible, simply enter your stake amount, assuming you have already funded the account of course, and when done, just press “Place Bets”.

What Promotions Do Betfair Offer Me?

First and foremost, if you’re a new customer, you are eligible for a bonus of up to £30, when you deposit just £10, and place a single sports bet of the same amount. Thus giving you a generous bonus of 300%, which beats most offerings elsewhere! The free bets are credited as three separate £10 free bet tokens, for you to bet as you wish!

We’ve already mentioned that you have the cash out facility, and how it’s beneficial particularly for multiples. However, if as a new player, you’re likely to be placing multiples bet, and then the ACCA insurance may be of use to you. On the homepage, you firstly have to click through to the “promotions hub” and select the ACCA Insurance and opt in. Then, you simply place a fivefold football match odds bet, with combined odds of 4/1 or more. If one leg on your selection lets you down, Betfair will refund the full stake as a free bet! This is also available on four fold both teams to score football markets as well.

Banking

The process of funding your Betfair sports account is a painless one, thanks to the acceptance of a huge selection of payment methods, and a very low deposit limit. Naturally, you can deposit with your credit or debit card, such as Visa, Delta or MasterCard, with a minimum limit of just £5. They take online wallet payments too, such as Neteller, PayPal and Skrill, again with a mere £5 limit. Or, you might wish to use a good old fashioned way, such as a personal cheque, a bank transfer, or western union. While equally as easy, though not so widely used, pre-paid cards such as paysafecard are accepted at Betfair too.

Customer Service

If you need a spot of help, don’t stress, as there is a very handy F.A.Q section, which usually has all the answers you’ll need, without having to contact the support team. Although, if you can’t find your answer, you’ll gather that there is also a support team, available at least twelve hours days, via either telephone, live chat or email.
